The Seasonal Shift

Finding beauty in the days between summer and autumn

There’s a point when something begins to change.

The days can still be beautifully warm. There are afternoons outside, windows left open and moments that feel very much like summer. But the mornings are a little cooler. The evenings arrive a little earlier. And every now and then, you find yourself reaching for an extra layer.

Autumn isn’t quite here. Summer isn’t quite over.

And we rather love this little bit in between.

Welcome to The Issea Edit | The Seasonal Shift — an edit inspired by changing light, familiar rituals returning and those first subtle signs that a new season is on its way.

🌟 The light changes first

Before we change what we wear or begin making our homes feel cosier, it’s often the light that gives the season away.

September sunlight has a softness to it. Golden afternoons stretch through the house, shadows become longer and suddenly the glow of a candle — even while there is still sunshine streaming through the window — feels inviting again.

Summer light. Autumn rituals.

We’re not ready to close the doors on summer just yet, though.

This is the time for making the most of both — coffee outside in the sunshine and a throw over your shoulders later that evening. Flowers and greenery still filling the house, but perhaps sitting alongside warmer textures, deeper colours and candlelight.

No dramatic seasonal makeover required.

Just a few little shifts.

🧣Layers return

There’s something particularly lovely about getting dressed at this time of year.

Bare legs with a sweatshirt. A soft layer when you leave the house. Pyjamas that suddenly feel appealing again after the lightest summer nights. A favourite bag, everyday jewellery and perhaps a fragrance that feels a little warmer than the one you’ve been reaching for all summer.

It’s less about packing one wardrobe away and bringing another out, and more about mixing the two.

We’re reaching for pieces that make that transition easy — beautiful pyjamas, soft layers and those everyday accessories that somehow work whatever the weather decides to do.

The kind of things that become part of everyday life rather than being saved for a particular season.

🏡 A change of mood at home

Our homes seem to notice the shift too.

The throw that has spent much of summer folded away finds its way back onto the sofa. Candles start being lit a little earlier. We linger over coffee for longer at the weekend and evenings at home begin to feel appealing again.

You don’t need to redecorate for autumn to make a room feel different.

A beautiful candle. A favourite ceramic mug. A textured throw. Fresh flowers. Coloured glassware catching the last of the afternoon sun.

Small things can completely change the feeling of a space.

For us, this is when home becomes less about bringing summer in and more about creating somewhere you want to settle into.

🍃 The scents we’re returning to

Fragrance is one of our favourite ways to mark a changing season.

The fresh, bright scents we naturally gravitate towards through summer begin to make room for something softer, warmer or a little more grounding.

That might mean changing the fragrance you reach for in the morning, lighting a candle in the evening or simply bringing scent back into everyday rituals around the home.

Fragrance has an amazing ability to change how a space — or a moment — feels.

And sometimes the smallest change is all that’s needed to make a new season feel as though it’s beginning.

📖 Slower rituals

Perhaps one of the loveliest things about this time of year is the return of the little rituals we forgot we missed.

Lighting a candle while we cook. Putting on pyjamas a little earlier. Taking a little more time over skincare. Making tea and actually sitting down to drink it. Picking up the book that has been sitting beside the bed.

Nothing revolutionary.

Just small things that make everyday life feel good.

As the evenings draw in, home begins to call us back a little earlier — and somehow that feels comforting rather than simply signalling the end of summer.

Don’t rush it

There can be such a temptation to move immediately onto the next season.

But we’re not quite ready to do that.

There are still sunny afternoons to be had. Coffee outside. Sandals beside the door. Flowers in the garden. Walks by the sea. And those September days when you wonder why you brought a jumper at all.

So The Seasonal Shift isn’t about saying goodbye to summer.

It’s about noticing what’s changing while enjoying what’s still here.

Keeping the colour, lightness and spontaneity of summer — while welcoming a little more texture, warmth and ritual back into our days.

For this Issue, we’ve brought together the things we’re naturally reaching for right now.

Soft layers and beautiful pyjamas. Candles beginning to glow again in the evenings. Fragrance, everyday jewellery and favourite accessories. Textured pieces for home, beautiful ceramics and those little details that make ordinary moments feel special.

Some are new.

Some are old favourites finding their way back into our days.

All have been chosen for this lovely, fleeting moment between two seasons.

Because summer isn’t quite finished.

Autumn hasn’t quite arrived.

And perhaps the in-between deserves a little attention of its own.
